My interview with my guy friend aka my boyfriend went as expected. His answers were very basic. His answer to the first question was that he was close with his best friend because they grew up together and his friend has been there most of the time he’s down. What they mostly do together is just play video games, go to the gym and when they were younger, they would ride bikes, steal fruits and get in trouble together. In the text” Men in Relationships” it’s said that ” The term friend is typically used to demote some level of emotional support. This quote goes on to explain that my guy friend and his ” best friend” how much he means to him because his best friend will say that that’s gay. So they’re just friends and not best friends, thus the description of best friend ” designating friends who are emotionally intimate.”

In the text “Masculinity” by Michael Kimmel, ” institutions accomplish the creation of gender order through several gendered process” means that jobs were initially created for men and not for women. In the text, he used medical school as an example and he talked about the process until actually becoming a doctor. By that time you become a doctor, you’re either in your late 20’s or early 30’s. Some women would probably already have kids by then and would find it hard to juggle being a mom and going through the process of becoming a doctor. Even in the institution for promotions, there’s a gender difference. At this moment, I don’t relate to it I can understand. What I’ve learn is that you have to think like a man in these institutions to get what you want and not be a push over.
In the article”masculinities” means that masculinity has a different definition is almost every county and almost every culture. Kimmel prefers the term masculinity because there’s just one definition of it.

Rupaul Andre Charles or just Rupaul as many know him by today was the only boy of 4. At a young age he started trying on his sisters clothes and pretended he was Diana Ross and Jane Fonda. Later on in life he decided to do his first drag ( its when gay men dresses up in women clothing to do shows.) in the 1980’s. When he did his first performance that’s when he fell in love. He later on was named the Queen of New York. He then came out with with a show called Rupaul Drag Race and its still on television today with a new season now being aired. He also made history by being the first drag to be on SNL. He’s the opposite of aggressiveness because he has such a huge personality it’s crazy. Ru is very sassy and he loves to read other people which is rude and funny at the same time. He’s not acting like female, he’s just very free going, expressive, very open with his feelings, not judgmental, do not care about what other thinks of him. Charles’s an example to other men not just gay that’s its okay to have feelings and be sensitive.

Blog#2: The Mask You Live In.
I wasn’t a stranger to the details being said in the documentary. I grew up with my brother. He was always in and out of trouble because he didn’t have a dad to look up to ( My brother and I don’t have the same dads) and out mom had to be both. My mom tried her best and thankfully before she passed, she got through with my brother. He’s now married with three kids and have a steady job. I’ve also went to high school with boys who caused trouble in class to get attention because they weren’t getting it from their parents. One thing that stood out to me in the documentary is how diverse it is. I expected it to be mainly focused on Africain American boys/ men only because that’s what I’m used to seeing and hearing. Another thing that pops out is that 68% of boys uses pornography daily. I’m surprised that it’s not more after noticing all the ego these young boys have recently.
In the beginning of the documentary it was mentioned that men/boys feel like an insider. I believe that was the case of Carlos. He was exploring his sexuality and if he let it be known to his family that he wasn’t sure of himself, he know they would’t accept him the way they do now because they had a different mentality from his.

Martin Luther King was a successful leader of the African American Civil rights moment in the United States. He was a minister which lead up to him being very good with speeches and great with talking and convincing others (except the whites of course). He was a very humble man. No matter how much the whites fight violently and the blacks wanted to fight violence with violence, Dr king convinced them that it was not the way to go. His verbal ability was so strong that his speechยจ I have a dream ยจ”still has an impact on people today. Martin had a passion and was determined to persue it. That is why he is my male inspiration, because he never gave up on his dream no matter the obstacles in his way.
