Vin Diesel, as a movie character of tons of action films, represents the tough guy who turns out to save the city, town, or world. Usually, he has gone through difficult experiences that make him agressive and get his porpuse at any price, even if it includes killing people or destroying a whole city.
The person I chose to be an example for adventurousness and aggressiveness is Lucious Lyon played by Terrence Howard in the show Empire. Lucious Lyon, who built a successful entertainment company by hustling drugs with ex-wife Cookie. On his come up and during his success Lucious show to be very aggressive and will threat, warn or kill anyone that becomes a hazard or that will jeopardize his company. And the more he did that the more powerful he felt. In section from the text it states βmasculinity is a characterized by a willingness to take (physical) risk and become more violent if necessary.β Thatβs a perfect description of Lucious. He is also an example to his sons, because them to are aggressive and handle their situation with violence. Another thing that was mentioned in the text βBeing dependent, passive and having low power(or status) have also topically been associated with femininityβ. With that being said, I also believe that was one of the reason Lucious was so aggressive and handle things the way he did. So he can always be called βThe Manβ.
Harry Styles is a British singer, songwriter and actor. He became famous as a singer when he first participated in the X-Factor in 2010.
Harry Styles is a good example of someone who promotes feminist ideas. In fact he said “It’s pretty simple. I think that the ideals of feminism are pretty straightforward”. Another good example of his feminist side would be his fashion/style. At the Met Gala he wore a revealing outfit that flaunted his nipples. Moreover, he wore earrings and painted his nails in different colors which shows that he is in opposition to society’s definition of “masculinity”, because these are considered homosexual or feminine behaviors by today’s society. Harry did all this in order to make a statement to people who are anti-feminist and to oppose to their anti-feminist ideals.
Walter Beckett is a boy who wanted to change the world by fighting without hurting anyone. So, in a young age he became an inventor and made gadgets that can’t a single soul. His gadgets is effective but no one approved it because of how silly they are and for that he’s was bullied and push away.
Lance Sterling is the hero, the Savior, and the man who protect the people in need but violence is the only answer against the enemy. If you don’t use violence to the enemy then the enemy will hit harder.
To classify, Walter is a complete different person than Lance. Lance is popular, violent, an athlete and cocky. Walter is the complete opposite. And still they can save the world with non violents.
Donald J Trump is a perfect example of anti-femininity. He continuously is known to over sexualize women and chalk them up to the mindless caricatures of makeup and boobs that the toxic masculine thought process has conditioned us to believe. Famously saying “Just grab em by the pussy” completely ignoring the concept of consent and barley acknowledging the humanity in women. He seems to believe he can get whatever he wants out of women because of his wealth and status. Exampled by also referring to Unfortunately this has also lead to him getting away with so many very inappropriate comments and actions, and as the president of the United States this has had disastrous effects on the country.
The US president has made his homophobic veil point very clear in his actions. He has removed LGBTQIA+ anti-discrimination and protection laws/bills for students and workers. He also removed mention of their rights from the white house government website. Last but not least Donald Trump tried to ban transgender people from serving in the military, stating that the extra medical care they would need would be too expensive. However, after the amount was calculated it was found out that the US military spends more than double the amount needed to properly accommodate transgender soldiers, on viagra. This culture and the toxically masculine viewpoint held by Trump doesn’t value what we’ve feminized. Homosexuality, especially in men is hyper feminized and often people who hold a toxic masculine thought process will feel the need to distance themselves from people who are LGBT. But Donald Trump is on a whole other level and has been able to take out his feelings on so many innocent people.
Trump has been able to take his anti-femininity out on women directly as well. He supported Alabama’s abortion ban. This ban did not allow anyone with a female reproductive system to get an abortion under any circumstances, including rape, incest and even if someone not identifying as a girl decides he/they cannot psychologically go through a pregnancy.
Donald Trump consistently expressed anti femininity ideas and thought processes throughout his life and not only in the media.
Chris Gardner. During his interview with the stockbrokers, Chris Gardner shows up wearing a dirty shirt instead of a suit! Confidently and without showing weakness, he explains what happened for him to be in that state. His intelligence and enthusiastic conversational skills earn him a spot as a trainee within the company. (inexpressiveness) Now, the problems of his financial situation are still ever so present. Being a trainee meant that he would have to do work without making any money while competing for the limited space the company held.
He was, for some time, homeless and taking care of his son. They were always on the moveand had no choice but to rely on himself. With this mentality, while working, he does things that saves him time and sets several goals for him to achieve by the end of each workday. (independence)
Always showing up and always find a way around the problem. Chris Gardner, I believe is a good example of an independent and inexpressive man. Movie: The pursuit of Happyness
It is in my opinion that Keanu Reeves is an exemplary example of a masculine man who does not fit the mold in the terms of success and accomplishment. He is currently 55 years young and has been acting since the mid-80’s. Keanu is philanthropist and regularly does charity work. He represents complete success except not to the norms that society sets for men. For example, Keanu does not flaunt money, does not live a lavish lifestyle, is not a womanizer, and overall defies the successful male standard that is set in Hollywood. I think Keanu is a great role model for young men to see that success can mean more than 12 car garages, instead it is based around the imp[act you leave on your surroundings.
Terri Crews is a feminist and he is not afraid to show it or speak up about the topic. By using his platform and social status it really helps to grab the attention of the public. Terri says that “the big thing about feminism is that it scares men.” He is trying to show that even men can show support and realize what feminism is really about without being classified as ‘feminin’ or being judged for believing in it.
He is a caring and loving father and he is not afraid to show it. He cares about the way he presents himself and how he appears to the public and is not afraid to wear pink. Which is exactly the opposite of the definition of antifemininity, which is a man who does not care about his style and appearance and is not feminine as well as doesn’t show his emotions. He is also an actor of course and is not afraid to embrace his ‘feminine’ side while playing his roles. The movie White Chicks for example, when he is singing and dancing to the song “a thousand miles.”
Our definition is adventurousness & aggressiveness and I will be presenting a person who does fall under that category.
Jordan Belfort is an American entrepreneur and a former Wall Street stock broker. He is mostly notoriously known from the film “The Wolf of Wall Street” where his life is portrayed through Leonardo DiCaprio. If you’ve watched the film you already know that this guy is the perfect example of this category. Jordan Belfort pleaded guilty in 1999 to fraud, stock-market manipulation and other crimes. Before becoming a multi-millionaire, he had a wife who he loved but then cheated on her multiple times before getting a divorce and after that he simply had an affair with every girl he could get his hands on. Belfort wasn’t known to be violent but he was a huge drug addict which also labels him under this category. He always thrived to gain the most power that he could, economically or in regards of his reputation and to use that to help support his frauds and crimes all while running away from the authorities. Although it has been a long time that he is sober and not involved in any criminal activity, he is the perfect example of this category.
